Glad I found this post as I have a similar issue on my V8 (159k), today I took it for an LPG service in Bristol, so while there I popped into Bristol Transmissions and luckily a nice mechanic came out and drove the truck.
I have experienced shuddering even when in gear stopped with the foot brake on, and deffo worse when the engine is cold. He drove it and said it was NOT the TC or box but more an engine misfire. Sure enough we looked at the live values and could see a few cyclinders logging a misfire.
I have already replaed the plugs and PCV, and cleaned throttle body, next on my list is the coil packs.
Also when misfiring badly the check engine light comes on but it doesn't log a code on my IID.
Ian is coming to do a megaflush next week anyway, so hoping that will help.
Any recommendations to buy coil packs from???
oh and just for info price for a new TC and G/Box rebuilt £3300 eek.

Update to my above post.
Ordered 4 Delphi coil packs to see if they cure the misfiring. No codes on IID, but if I monitor the misfire counter I could see 3 or 4 cyclinders missing. Fitted just one first on number 4 which was the worst, rechecked the IID counter and it stuck at 0. Great. So then I replaced 1, 3 & 5 and rechecked and no missing at all. Engine nice and smooth and the shuddering I experienced has all gone even under load.
Ordered 4 more coil packs tonight so that all 8 being done. Muh cheaper than a new TC
