TLO seems to be advising similar ,would like to hear his take on this.
my take on it would be i would not put petrol in it in the first place (famous last words )
it's right, you reeally have to replace the HP system including the HP pipes as well as pump, injectors and fuel manifolds as they can all hide the HP pump destructed inardsTLO has left the building.......

SWMBO stopped the car before it cut out (was starting to judder when the light bulb went on in her head).
The fuel has been drained, car topped up with diesel and driven home on Saturday night. I drove it yesterday until empty and refilled (with diesel ). The disco is running ok, in fact as well as ever so I don't think there has been any immediate damage to the fuel pumps (correct me if I'm wrong). I assume if the fuel pumps are damaged the engine will be starved of fuel and so the car will either cut out or have very little power.
Unfortunately it seems like our insurance won't cover the misfuel so whatever repairs have to be undertaken will come out of my pocket. I take it that the repair bill will probably be about the same now as later (if things go wrong in the near future).
I am not in the business of lying to people or selling on my potential problems and we intend keeping the D3 for a few more years at least (We love it....but can't afford a D4 yet). By then any future problems related to the misfuel should have come to light and been dealt with.
Fingers crossed all will be well with the disco going forward. I will get practicing on the old series 3 so if I do need to replace the fuel tank, pumps, lines, injectors, filters etc I can do it myself One Wife.......Livid

This may be a long shot, but worth mentioning in case it helps you or anyone else in future.
Do you have a breakdown/recovery policy? If so it's worth checking in there to see if you are covered for repairs due to misfuelling. My breakdown policy has this specifically written into it, they will pay for recovery and repair due to misfuelling and even refuel with about £10 of fuel to get me going.
I have seen people on other forums (caravan etc) saying their insurance doesn't cover damage from misfuel but some breakdown policies do!
Hope it keeps running fine, all the best and many happy permagrin miles
