Spent the Sunday mountain biking at Swinley forest with some friends, fantastic fun on the blue and red routes.but....... M3 coming home... Car gave an almighty shudder, dashboard light up, no power, so knocked it into neutral and coasted to a stop. Called the recovery company and they where out in 15 mins. Fantastic service. Next conversation is with Warranty Direct to see about fixing it. I suspect it's a broken cam belt. 55,000 miles and 7 year service not due till April. Ho hum what fun.
WD delivered it to Hunters in Southampton , now waiting to hear.........
Seems to be upside, perhaps that's the problem....
Very sorry to hear this. With your 7 year service due in April, it does sound like you're within the batch of weak oil pump casings.

Engine may not be working but the G4 anti gravity plating is working a treat.
After lots of discussions with Pete at LRCS and various knowledgeable individuals on this site and others I've just picked the G4 up. New engine and turbo with warranty courtesy of Land Rover. Excellent service from Peter at LRCS and Hunters of Southampton. They checked all pipes and suspension while the body was off and all is in good condition so the only extras where flexi brake hoses, intercooler pipe and water pump so I'm extremely happy with the result and the service I received. Looking forward to many more years of G4 ownership!

The crank had broken in two and split the block and broken the front off of the oil pump casing, that was the visible damage, I suspect there was allsorts of assorted horridness inside. Not sure of the cause as oil levels and pressure and engine temp where fine right up to the point it stopped. Apparently (and I really don't know if this is conjecture or based on evidence) it has been know for the main bearing to move in its cap and block the oil way.
