I have picked 'multi-screamer' but in reality it's only been three times in two years and one of these was fixed in the 'enhancement program' the other two times it's just been full of home shires finest apparently.... _________________ and then....??

Mine used to be a screamer, but it does'nt make any noise now and I've had parking brake problems as well.
Parking brake was fixed on third visit to dealer. Not made any noise or had any other problems since Feb this year.

EPB was good for the past 2.5 years until recently when it started screaming and locking on with all the beeps of refusal to release until D3 was turned off and computer reset. Happened 3 times in remote areas on a 4WD trip and now is not being used until I can get to the dealer to get it looked at.

I thought the EPB automatically engaged when the key was removed from the ignition? If so then you always use it, it releases automatically on drive-off with an auto too.
Mine has been fine, got an EPB fault warning light while off-roading at Tong but it cleared itself. _________________ 2007 D3 TDV6 GS Auto

Only auto engages on key removal on manuals
Auto release is on manuals too since 07MY _________________

Holding the EPB switch down at ignition off will disable the EPB... just make sure its in gear though as a 2.5 ton weight gathers momentum pretty quickly.

Ok so this gives overall result. But doesn't tell us if its related to off road use. Perhaps another pole of those that never use the car in brake dirtying muddying conditions and one for those that do. That would at least tell us that muck ingress might be the base of the problem. Of course getting a D3 a bit mucky SHOULD NOT be a problem.

Mine started screaming during an off road day (after going through a very big muddy puddle). Lasted for a week or so like that and then locked on during another off road day.
I would say the problem was definatly due to the off roading as I hadn't had a single issue with it until then.

Just had the actuator and brake lining replaced under warranty after 40k km's. EPB gave up the ghost whilst offroad in Botswana (loads of dust), but it had been playing up before we left.
Still love the idea of of the EPB though, just wish it was more robust.

agree about this off road thing ......mine has only been off road a few times in its life and is always cleaned thoruoghly underneath afterwards.............not exactly sure where th brake is underneath though....if someone can point it out to me I will ensure that bit of the underneath gets even more attention each time it is washed as the mud deos seem to linger. Still oooozing boughrood and I haven't been there since April _________________ really ought to change this.........
