I've had the dreaded screech a few times just pulling away now and again and then even when i had only put the motor in gear without moving, eventually it seized on me one morning.
I asked on this forum and released the handbrake manually so i could use the D3, HWMBO wouldn't drive the car though so no drinking for me for the last few weeks. Anyhow i was booked in to have this corrected with JSF 4x4 in Norwich who said i would probably require new pads and discs on the back and maybe shoes too and if they couldn't reset the EPB it might require an new one???
As i had to wait a week until i could get into the garage due to an excess of D3 EPB fixes i happened to contact a mobile sparky/mechanic who reset the EPB by using his diagnostics tool, 30 bills later and alls well again.
For how long God only knows????
I was told the D4 had gone to the conventional handbrake as LR have had so many problems but reading this thread that doesn't seem to be the case? Discovery3 TDV6 GS

Totally innocent to the errant ways of the EPB, we just about s t ourselves when it screeched the first time. Bloody thing chose to create when we stopped in a car park next to a graveyard! Surprised the noise didn't cause all those interred to rise up. Fortunately there was no committal going on at the time and the garage we bought it from sorted it with no problems.
