Sadly my view would be that even in the unlikely situation that LR agreed to contribute, the amount they would offer would be a small % of the retail cost of a new LR box and fitting, given the mileage and age of your car. The balance left for you to pay would probably exceed the cost of getting it fixed independently.
Sorry to say this when you must be well upset by the gearbox failure D4 GS 12MY

I guess I'm just that I didn't realise earlier that the 150K miles/10 years was just a load of balls. If LR stated in their schedule change the gearbox oil every 60K miles or something similar it would have been done, and I would probably be driving around without having had to spend a not inconsiderable amount of money fixing it.
I'm not sure that I expect them to contribute. I would expect them not to and for me to have to make my claim online. What happens next is the key thing. Will they try and defend their position and respond to the claim, or make an offer? Is there any downsides to what I contemplate, other than the cost of making the claim?2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

I'm sure a letter to their MD/CEO wouldnt hurt but my guess is it will get passed to the Customer Services dept for them to reply and my guess is they will sympathise with your position but say the car is well out of warranty and not offer a contribution hopefully i'm wrong on this.D4 GS 12MY

Somewhere between £175 if you do it yourself using cheap oil
or £350 ? for someone to come out with an expensive machine
If you have a new car with low mileage you would want to use proper ZF oil

My gearbox oil was double flushed at 80odd thousand, new TC stil needed at 150k. Earlier changes don't mean you don't have to fork out.

The thing is if your gearbox is exhibiting issues ...then any flush is just buying you a bit of time ...ultimately it is 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

He is right ^
A flush is PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE and needs done BEFORE your gearbox is showing any issues
Once the issues become apparent, it is too late for a flushMy D3 Build Thread

I agree with above - DiscoMikey flushed mine but it only lasted 12 months before it needed new TC and rebuild. Tried Dr Tranny a few times but the judder just came back after a few thousand miles.
Unless you do flush at low miles without symptoms I wouldn't bother - just go straight for a new TC and save your money.

What gets me reading this is ZF state that its a lifetime fill on the gearbox implying that you don't need to change it, so if a fault develops witch is oil related then it should be covered, LR state on the service its 150k 10 years which is going against what ZF state. So who's right, surely the maker of the gearbox should know the best, LR are just covering there arses, which is understandable, but surely they should uphold what they state in the service schedule which is what the posters car falls within, not everybody drives 150k within the full warranty period of 3 years.
To me if the gearbox breaks down due to the oil not being changed before the required milage and time then why wont they cover it.
Maybe I'm just being thick on this one, but being an ex mechanic I do understand the importance of regular oil changes so I'm not saying it should not be changed, it more in regard to the posters legal side i can't understand.2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

I may be wrong, but my understanding was that ZF recommended more frequent oil changes than JLR.
No doubt someone can point us all at the relevant source of authoritative ZF information.

Lifetime is open to interpretation...
Lifetime of the oil
Lifetime of the filter/service intervals
Lifetime of the gearbox
Lifetime of the vehicle
ZF recommend a flush between 50-75k miles on the 6HP boxes, with that reducing to 30k for frequent high speed driving, off road driving or towing
