ZF wrote:Dear Distributor:
It has come to our attention there is confusion in the field regarding service intervals and fluid recommendations for ZF 5HP and 6HP applications.
ZF has promoted lifetime service for many 5HP and 6HP factory filled transmissions. Lifetime is not clearly defined and each OEM manufacture has there own philosophy. ZF stands behind lifetime recommendation where listed in the vehicle operator’s manual. ZF engineered and tested our fluids to retain its characteristics through normal lifetime operating conditions. However, a spirited driving style, special environmental considerations and other individual driving factors may place higher than normal loads on transmission fluids. To assure proper operation it is advisable to perform a drain and fill at 100,000km/62,000 miles or eight years.

Quote:Regular maintenance intervals will increase the automatic transmission's service life. ZF Services therefore recommends a transmission oil change every 100,000 km or after 8 years at the latest.

I get lifetime is open to interpretation,
But then this should be the lifetime of the vehicle, surely, even if it was 30 years old but was serviced at a dealer but only covered 150,000 miles in that amount of time, I know thats low and works out to 106miles a week, and not the best example to use, and a dealer would say its not being used enough, but if you cut all the dealer b s out in therory it should be covered.
I just see it that if LR state 150k or 10 years it should be covered, but as you say, ZF state a change at 50-75k or reduced to 30k is better, I know you will have more info to hand than me, but it begs the question, who the hell is right. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
