I have this same problem, started this morning - No previous problems with it.
Neither Key fob will lock or unlock the doors. So, I thought it might be the programming for some reason, so started the car and went out for very long drive..... About 1 hour to my destination. Still would not lock the car...
Might be that the battery within has died. I had this problem with one of the fobs (2005 vintage also) and it was solved by cracking open the fob (not easy; broke spring and fob is no longer waterproof) and fitting a new £3 battery (soldering required).
Easier but more expensive solution is to order up a new key from your dealer or TheLargeOne (forum member who is parts manager at Yeovil LR).
IIRC, someone managed to get a key blank from ebay and have it programmed to suit, but can't recall whom or when.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
Sorry - read the "neither" as being the actions of locking and unlocking, not that both stopped at the same time. Yes, a receiver issue is more likely in such circs.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

BTW - Just thought, the Central Locking is actually still working as the doors all unlock still when the Key is removed from the ignition..... Soooo, must be the Receiver Unit ! ?
Left battery off overnight in the hope that this might reset something...
Cheers.

Fred, I have just had the same problem in the last week, both key fobs have stopped working, although they gave up gracefully over the last week, they would occasionally work after 10/20 pushes on the buttons. I was hoping for the usual Disco3 quick home fix, but can't find many topics about this!! Have you had yours looked at by a mechanic yet? My disco is on a 05 plate, if the keys only have a 5 year lifespan, at around £150 plus programming there are going to be some out of pocket owners around!

If that is the case it will indeed be a right blow. Someone told me though that these have a life of 15 years... Can anyone confirm ? Wiggs maybe ? Or another guru.
Not sure what I think to be worse, having to have the Receiver Unit Repaired (no price for this yet) or having to replace the Keys at 150 quid each.
Cheers.

PS. Mat. NO, not had it looked at by LR Mechanic yet. Pointless here, they will grunt and say I need a new key, and won´t even know how to check the interior unit etc, they are absolutely 110% crap - I always had to give them advise in the past and have diagnosed problems for them when they sit scratching their heads. I recently decided actually that I would not even let them perform a service on my car, as they seem to know FA.
Closest proper Land Rover Mechanics are in Marbella, which is over 2 hours away. Will go there when passing, but not for another 6 weeks or so.
Like you, I thought there would be someone with advice on Disco3, but no-one has much to say do they - Surprisingly. I am sort of hoping it is the batteries to be honest now, probably cheaper than the inside Receiver Unit.... or whatever else it could be.
Wiggs ? Anyone ? HELP ?

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me. I have a good non franchised dealer looking after my disco. I am not due a service until march and so will wait until then for a fix! Best guess is the keys are fine but the internal receiver is defective. This is situated under the roof lining near the rear view mirror so a bit time consuming to access. A new unit is in the region of £150 plus fitting and programming. Not too bad but money I'd rather spend elsewhere. Love the discovery but wish it was as bullet proof as my wires skoda!
