Further to my installation a few weeks ago, all seems well. My local LR dealer did the software bit for £20. Happy days..... up and down she goes, tout de suite
....but it dont half sound noisy, even by comparison to the outgoing knackered one.
have I done something to make the compressor amplify against the chassis or big plastic casing?
Twas a fairly straight forward, albeit fiddly for my fat hands, kinda of exercise but disappointed that the compressor is an intrusive accompaniment to the driving sound track now.

I know it's been mentioned numerous times but I still see conflicting info on this thread and for me, the TSB instructions are unintuitive so before I make a mighty up I'd like to check.
That brass insert. The TSB clearly shows that the insert goes in the "old" air feed pipe that you've just cut to accommodate the new compressor and subsequently fits in the green / black coupling:
However it's been mentioned on this thread that it should go in the "new" end that is inserted in the compressor and (my) logic suggests it's most needed there as that's going to get the hottest. Hence my hesitation.
I presume though that my interpretation of the TSB is correct and the collet is inserted, ridged end first, into the (freshly cut) "old" pipework that then gets joined to the new feed pipe with the green / black connector?
Presumably this also means I need to get a very full cup of boiling water out there to soften it up as I can't do it off the car 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Simon .....
my amk compressor is noisier than the original.
I can hear it very faintly in the car with the engine running (I really have to be listening out for it), but open the front passenger door and it's obvious.
It was noisy from first use ... just hope it lasts!Despite the cost of living, it remains as popular as ever!

Mike ....
I did mine on a nice warm sunny day (!) and the copper insert slid in easily. I even managed to extract it and them re-fit it the right way round! Even if it was stiff (snigger) ... I'm sure a cup of tea (or hot water) would quickly sort it out.Despite the cost of living, it remains as popular as ever!

Yes, as it happens I had no trouble getting it in although my pipe-cutting left a lot to be desired. There's very little room to work making the whole operation quite fiddly. That said it's on the car and seems to be working okay. ECU updated and so far no faults. Long drive tomorrow which will be the big test. Fingers crossed...2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Just done the same thing and had the same question. Looking down the green fitting I noted the end of the pipe originating from the compressor had a copper sleeve already inserted. With that in mind it makes sense the sleeve must be inserted into a pipe that didn't come with the kit.
My only thought is that the compressor is metal to plastic, the union is plastic to plastic hence needing copper reinforcement. Could be wrong tho.

I'm going to be fitting a new AMK compressor to my D3 this week.
What did folks use to cut the plastic pipes? Would a sharp Stanley knife do the trick or do they have to be sawn off with a hacksaw/Dremel cutting wheel?
Thanks,

I had no trouble with a pair of tin snips. I think a Stanley knife would be fine too.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

So does the newest AMK compressor (i believe part no LR061663 written on the box, right?) has any real difference from the initial AMK one (is this the LR045251)???
i ask because i'll order one soon.....

I wouldn't saw or grind them in any way, you don't want to risk getting "plastic crumbs" into the system and blocking valves etc.
I used a decent pair of wire cutters on mine but as already said, a sharp Stanley knife blade will do it just fine.Clive

U0132-87

I'm going to be replacing my original Hitachi compressor with a new AMK one this weekend (now part number LR061663) using this guide. Excellent work, Mike.
I'm also going to be replacing the air tank and mounting bolts at the same time. Are there any other bits in that area I should consider replacing at the same time? Any pipework or pipe fittings that are not included in either the air tank box or the compressor box?
I'm already thinking about fitting a new reservoir valve block. What happened to the valve block group buy thread? Did it get taken down?
Is it worth painting my new air tank with waxoyl or similar or will that just make it a messy to fit?
Cheers,
