Maybe try putting blue tac between the barrel and the door then pulling out.
This may give you an idea that there is a large gap between the 2 and why it doesn’t engauge
And whether it’s lined up to Engage.
The barrel seams ok. Maybe the door handle is pushed into the door somehow?
