I used the valve that is top, middle & rear of the engine - pretty close to the HPFP. It looks like a tyre valve, used an allen key to depress the centre pin.

Robbie,

Would air in the diesel line cause the engine to cut out?

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Ultimately lack of fuel would cause the engine to quit but the HP system should detect the pressure variation and command a shutdown to protect the HP pump; it relies on fuel for lubrication and is intolerant of cavitation.

Thumbs Up

D3 still driving just great, even giving it some harsh acceleration.

I have just ordered the Sealey pressure gauge from the UK, I will update with fuel pressure characteristics soon or if I have any other issues.

As a further update, Disco still driving great, idle a little rough at times.

Using the sealey gauge, pressure is 0.35bar, current draw is 3.3A

I get the impression my LPFP is not doing so well. Any thoughts?

Yes, both the current draw and pressure are low. Thumbs Up

I replaced my lpfp recently because of intermittant lack of power especially on the motorway however it did not fix my problem. Current draw on the old pump was 3.9A, the new one was 4.2A, so not much difference.
Now thinking it may be transmission as it sometimes hesitates to kick down thus causing the engine ecu to reduce power. Also vibration on hard acceleration in 3rd.
