anyone had this issue with a manual? |
|
so yesterday driving down the M5 the infamous yellow light popped up, with parking brake warning as mentioned by others,
the reverse lights don't come on, and the gear indicator don't display in R or 1 but does in N
does the calibration thing work with a manual??

It *only* works with a manual, if you're referring to re-calibrating the XY Sensor.

So after the excitement of it being fixed the other day I discovered the cause yesterday, and after a 5hr wait in a service station on the M4 finally got recovered home
I now have a very sorry looking disco partially blocking the road outside my house with no clutch.
the next challenge is how to get it moved to a garage for what I imagine is going to be a costly repair. wish me luck!!!

Yes, an XY sensor losing calibration is one of the first signs your clutch is on its way out. The more frequently you see it happen, the more likely it is that your clutch is about to fail.
Depending on where you get it recovered to, you might consider buying your clutch parts from here:
http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/transmiss...3-14-c.asp
Good prices for the same LUK parts that LR fitted to your D3 in Solihull.

Wex wrote:Have you tried
On a long straight quiet stretch of road
Turning off ignition
Wait until (P) on dash extinguishes.
Restart ignition , select low box
Engage reverse
Reverse whilst also keeping an eye on gear indicator
When R appears ..... stop
Engage First .... drive until 1 appears
Engage Second ..... drive until 2 appears
Repeat up through 3,4,5 until 6 th & 6 appears
Stop... Neutral..... Ignition off ..... wait until (P) extinguishes
Ignition on
Change back to High Box
Should be ok now
Someone correct me..its been a while since I did this and am not sure if all the (P) malarky has to be done
Is this for.manual... the P makes me think auto

As the sequence is only for manual gear-boxed cars then I'd presume the (P) is meaning the park brake symbol 'warning' light on the dash.

Just want to say thanks for the info on here!
I had amber park brake light on, park brake fault on screen, gear indicator out of sync, no reverse lights or parking sensors. I followed the recalibration procedure, got it right first time and everything now works as it should.

Morning all,
I have had the amber "park brake" light come up on my D3 Auto, it also says "park brake" error in the instrument info on start up.
Now I read that the calibration for the XY switch is only for the manual trucks?
Should I have a gear display for the auto too? I don't have anything saying what gear I am in on the dash, which I do on mt D2 auto, so thought I should on the D3 also ??
Got MOT soon and wondered if this will fail.
Any ideas?
Park brake seems to work with no squealing at all.
