Hi guys
Put my new d4 led lights into my 06 plate today and intended placing the resistors inside the cubby holds each side and mounted onto innner Skin bodywork with the wiring piggy backed onto the original d3 wiring. Problem i have got is the colours on my d3 dont match the pics on this post. There is also 2 wires different on each side in colour. I basically have green/brown, green/purple, red/yellow and black on both sides. Additionally on the offside is green/white and red on its own. Whilst on the nearside the additional wires are green/purple and red/black stripe.
Anyone any ideas which colours are the indicators? Suppose i could locate the wiring on the new light unit as shown earlier in this post and then trace them back through. Would be alot easier if someone knows the indicator wires on the old wiring from the ones ive listed above as they obviously dont match the colours listed earlier on post?
Oh by the way they look fab.

I mounted the ballast resistors to the body as per the following pics, wired to the vehicle side of the loom. I was going to bond the resistors (50W rated) to the lamp back, but as they can get hot with extended use I opted for the metal mount instead, with each hole sealed with silicone to prevent water ingress behind the resistor. The wire colours are black & green/red on the nearside, and black & green/white on the offside. I'm very pleased with the look of these lamps on my Cairns Blue D3, and will upload a pic of the back end once I've washed it! The lamps are the only clean bit right now

The wires were re-taped after I took the pics!Previously:

Just what I needed. I mounted the o/s resistor on the inside of the vehicle but looking at the same place on the n/s its abit tight especially since they get very hot. Might swap the 1 ive mounted around now ive seen yours I wasnt sure there was room directly behind the indicator withouth it touching something they might melt. Must admit I was only going to use scotchloks though. (wudnt believe I served my time as a spark).
I also put in the smoked clear side repeaters and the led number plate bulbs so overall looks great. Just need to shut up the crazy indicator flashing noise by connecting the resistors and then the d3's xmas pressy wll be complete.

Hi Burdy
Yep there fine pal. Exactly the ones I used. Try and mount them on metal away from anything that might melt as they get hot if indicators or hazards are on for a long while.

Thank you for fast reply Next is to order the resistors and trying to figure the wiring out

I'd recommend connecting to the vehicle side of the wiring, rather than the lamp unit wiring, and also using a 50W resistor (the Wiki says 25 or 50W) as that will remain cooler than a 25W, and only costs a small amount more.
Connect the resistor to the black & green/red wires on the nearside, and black & green/white wires on the offsidePreviously:

Excellent material guys. So, it is important to ask fog D4 light and not LR3 lights then? This would ensure that I receive the ones with the black borders. Thanks.

Hi guys,
I'll be fitting the resistors when they come and just want to make sure I wire them in correctly before I start.
From the pictures posted, it appears that the resistors are soldered onto the existing loom wires. So I assume I just remove a little insulation and solder each end of the resistor to the correct pin (wire). This is vehicle side and not light side?
My confusion is that Ive seen some pictures and I couldn't see where the connection was made. Hence the post.
