If you need a pair of resistors ive got a spare set as i overordered for myself if you go go the wiki section of the site and type a search for d4 rear lights theres all the info you will need ( slimers how to guide is ace )just did mine this morning really easy pics going in my gallery monday although i fitted my resistors to the lights themselves as if i update the disco at a later date just want to be able to unplug and swap old units straight back in . The resistors i got came with scotch lock type connectors so couldnt have been easier no soldering was required MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

Thanks Mark,
If you have pictures of the wiring you did (lights side) that would be great! I may do exactly the same
Cheers!!!!

Re: Wiring in D4 LED clear rear lights.

Although fitting new LED clear rear lights is just a 'plug n play' installation, you need to be aware that your dash indicators will flash at double speed [not the rear indicators].
To solve this, you'll need to wire in a resistor to each rear light.
Wires can be quite hard to trace because they're all black.
So to help, remove the connector block from your new light unit - it does need a bit of a tug.
At the rear you will see numbers at each corner.
The indicator light wires that need to be bridged by a resistor are No3 [positive] and No5 [negative].
Did mine today [including front LED indicators] and now dash lights click at normal speed.
Hope this is of use to someone.
OK, acting Capt. slow here...
I need to put wire 3+5 together on both sides of the resistor?
Or...

If you've got your old D3 lights I'd connect them to see what happens?
If not then try & borrow a set [ even try another D4 set].
Or change the resistors and see if the problem is still there
That'll at least identify if the problem is with the light/resistor units or elsewhere.
btw, have they definately been wired in correctly in the first instance?I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Photos of D4 rear light connector (& D3 for comparison) showing pins the resistor need to go across. This is the lamp side of the connector, not the body side, you may have to unclip it from the lamp body to get to it
Edit to clarify; the arrows indicate which pins on the plugs are used for the indicators and are not intended to point to the wires
I know this is an old thread but in trying to fit a resistor to set up my newly acquired D4 lights the plugs in this picture don't look like mine at all. Mine is an 05 and I can't see which the correct orientation from these pictures given the moulding is different.
UPDATE
Ignore me - sorted I think
