MAP sensor tell the engine management what the turbo boost pressure is, so it can then adjust the VNT mechanism to prevent overboosting Thumbs Up

Cant remember how the MAP sensor works, so whether the oil would cause it to fault or not Embarassed

Cheers, will get a price & availability from M&D Inverness, I assume it's not too difficult to disconnect it. Thumbs Up It's back to changing bits, not sure what the problem is and hence what the answer is. Big Cry

Must admit that I've missed the latest posts on this - I might have a lok at my MAP sensor, though i dont seem the be getting any error codes of this nature.

If it's not a big bucks item (and the stealer has one) I'll change the MAP sensor tomorrow, see what if any difference that makes. Thumbs Up

It's easy to blame the EGRs, their fault codes seem to come up with all sorts of problems. Mine have been blanked so will be mega peeved if I have to get them changed. Banging Head

Got a feeling that these problems are not one thing. My turbo got swapped (again) and it stopped the ESF message on going into limp home mode, suppose that's progress! Rolling Eyes

OK Sports Fans, we have progress! Took her up to the Big Heeland Smoke (Inverness) after her MAP sensor clean and what a difference! Drivability is back, mpg is normal and no shutting down with lots of full power stuff up hills. Previously these hills would have resulted in a shut down, now they will just loose you your license! Just look at the mpg!!

OK, that was cheating a bit with the downhill to Nessie but on the flat she was doing 32 - 34mpg on the trip, previously that would be 25mpgish. So far so good, will see how she does on the climb out south which would guarantee a shut down.

OK, still shutting down! It's no longer funny but at least was aware that it would do it and was in a position to do a quick restart. I did wonder if VOSA would be interested but i doubt it.

MAP sensor is £138 + VAT so a bit much for a change it on the off chance. SWMBO did suggest sell it. Tempting, very tempting but I know she's just messing with my mind and I just have to tickle her in the right spot, preferably before an artic tickles her up to the middle row of seats! Evil or Very Mad

PS Ref to tickling is not SWMBO as she thought when I read it to her!! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

You still having problems, seems you heading for a new record?? I haven't been following all your post ,when you mentioned new turbo is that the one fittend when the body came off or did they change it again? When did you blank the egr, how did the map sensor get so dirty if the egr was blanked?
A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
MY09EGR's blanked Thanks Bellautos, BAS

Body was off to put 2nd replacement turbo on at 79k, prev one 2 years ago at 40k. Lots of bits changed to try and cure shut down before turbo, intercooler, fuel & air filter & MAF sensor, none made a difference. EGRs were blanked a year ago with butterfly taken out. Oil on the MAP sensor could have been there for ages but no idea if blanking would help that.

Thinking in-tank fuel filter bunged up or front one us fitted wrongly, deffo seems like fuel starvation. Sad

PS shutting down is again subtly different, no ESF warning, just SPECIAL PROGS NOT AVAILABLE and the car shutting down to low power mode to preserve itself, sod preserving the nut behind the wheel! Evil or Very Mad

Have you tried changing the brake light switch? On my original D3, if I so much as brushed my foot on the brake pedal whilst it was accelerating, it result in an Engine System Fault message. However, it did not go into limp-home, it cleared if I took my foot off the brake.

Just taken mine out and cleaned it - was very much the same as yours Derek. I'll see what happens when I go out again.

If is a pressure sensor, then the much on the out side is irrelevant, but it does depend on what has gone down the hole and what effect it has had on what is presumably some sort of Pizo-electric pressure sensor?
