Autel
Hi all,
I have just bought one of these Autel AP200`s not to try and be clever and try reprogramming things etc but just to read and maybe re-set fault codes or to let my indy Land Rover garage know what might be wrong with my Disco 3.
I downloaded the app and registered it, but it won`t pair to my phone or allow me to scan the code on the unit, it appears to want me to plug the unit into my Disco first !!.
I am very reluctant to plug it in as I cannot find how to even download the Land Rover software and don`t want to upset my Discovery as I know they can be "sensitive" to such things.
Any info would be great from others who have one of these
Kind regards Dave

I would persist with the scanning. I managed to scan the code to pair the unit ok and had no problems throughout the setup at all.
Once done, it will allow you to move on in the process and download the software. (though, I can;t remember if you needed to pair the unit before you could download the LR software.
If there are any glitches, I'd try their customer service?!?!
Perhaps see if the code will scan on somone elses phone (if you can) to rule out any issues with your phone?
If you plug it in without finishing the setup on the App, it will likley just do absolutely nothing at all!
Good luck.

Seems like a snip and results from other users seem positive so far. Since I've resisted forking out for an IID Tool it seems worth a try. I'm really only interested in its code reading capabilities and to maybe programme an extra key.
I'll report back once I've received it and tried it out.

Autel
Hi, I have now managed to sort out the pairing and software download, reading the fault codes is all I need at the moment and clearing the odd glitch.
Tried it out this afternoon and all is well, read the faults so I can give my Indy Landy garage the heads up before I take her in, the FBH being my main issue now.
So far it seems a good little gadget for the price.

They must have private jet waiting in China to distribute these things; mine arrived at lunchtime today. Ve downloaded the app, and activated it. The activation code too a few hours to arrive but it’s working. I’ll give it a try at the weekend and report back.

Well so far, I've not made much progress. I've downloaded the software and can make the device talk to the car and app but I haven't persuaded it to actually show me any data yet. I'll perservere.

I got there in the end. It seems I hadn't downloaded all of the software needed to make it work. Once I did that it was quick and easy to view, log (as PDF), and then clear the fault codes.
Now I need to consult the collective brains about my air suspension faults and come up with a plan of action.

Has anyone ever reset the Battery Management System using this tool after installing a new battery? I see the option is there but just wondered if it was available for the LR4?

I have been messing about with this a bit more while waiting in supermarket car parks
There has been several updates to the app / firmware for diagnostics from Autel.
Found quite a detailed log of distance / time travelled in each of the terrain modes ( there is similar post on here somewhere with a different scanner.....)
The terrain control is logged as 1 to 5... with 1 being normal driving and 5 off road low range.... this corresponds with clockwise rotation of knob to each of the modes... (i hope that makes sense!!)
It could give you an idea of how much time the vehicle has spent in mud....
Managed to get the disco in "tight mode" for wheel alignment
Also eventually found the transfer case / gearbox live data
I have a very long list of work that needs doing on mine over the next few weeks:
upper / lower rear susp arms & front lower arms.
rear disc's / pads / shoes
Brake lines corroded so they will all be done too
anti roll bar bits etc etc
I'm hoping to use the Autel to:
release air pressure from air bags /tank
unlatch hand brake
bleed brakes -may as well replace all the fluid as probably never been done
tight mode for alignment after arm changes....
will post any issues i have with the Autel when i eventually get my finger out

They certainly appear good value for what you get, however I notice that there is an annual subscription which is where they will get their payback, I wonder if it will remain constant or increase as the years go by?

Bought one of these last week in response to the eml coming on, works great for reading and deleting codes (what I’ve needed it for so far) had a play with the menus and looks a useful bit of kit to leave in the glovebox.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

I cheated a bit, I’ve got amazon Prime so next day delivery
So far I’d say well worth it, seems to to do everything or there than code, had a play with the live data report on it today, tells you everything that’s happening when it happens. Great bit of kit for the price. Can’t afford or justify Buying an iid at the moment.
The only potential issue is that someone was saying that the app wouldn’t work on Android v10 phone a while ago, don’t know if they’ve fixed that yet.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey
