I've estimated you were subject to a force of about 74,000 newtons, or 7.5 tonnes' force spread over a small contact area. OUCH!
Method:
Assume mass of car = 2500kg and that half of that was raised up - 1250kg - and fell through 0.45m (18 inches) when rolling off the ramps. That's a potential energy of 1250x9.8x0.45 = 5513 joules, all of which went into kinetic energy. To bring the car's mass to a halt required work of the same value to be done by your body. Work = Force x Distance. If we assume that your chest deformed by about 0.075m (3 inches) in the stopping process ( OUCH ) then the stopping force you 'supplied' was 5513/0.075 = 73,507 newtons. Newton's Third Law says the stopping 'action' you applied to the car was matched by an equal and opposite crushing 'reaction' on you. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

There was a garage in Keighley (trains and Bronte country) that was recommended on the forum for torque converter refurb and replacement for £400. Compared to other quotes of between £1200- £1350 I was interested.
They have come recommended from other forum members so I thought I would have a go. Now, since the job has been done the car has done the mileage from Keighley to home so I cannot yet appraise.
I am hoping to feel well enough to go to my sisters at the weekend in Pwllheli so it will have a good run and when I am happy I will do a full write up as there seems to be TC's failing by the hundred at the moment. I guess the true test will be dragging the tin tent around but I am not up to that yet.
Just a word about the garage, they are a very professional looking outfit that does auto rebuilds and replacement, they are connected to an engineering company that takes the failed TC units and refurbs them.
I am sure everything will be fine I just need to give the car a good run before I can endorse.
Cheers
P.S. if anyone wants the contact details PM me and I will send them.D3 HSE ........................Gone!!!
