I'd be more than happy to provide you (and any other EU potential customers) with a tune, the only issue would be an agreement as to costs in the event of a dealer overwrite....

My back of an envelope calculation is that @ 12,000 miles a year, would take 24-30 months to repay the cost of remap. But then I'm not likely to tow anything heavier than a dinghy so don't need the power.
Am I right in thinking if I decide to venture into countries where fuel is a bit iffy, you would need to go back to factory settings.

The Disco3 with or without a tune copes with low cetane fuel without any problems, the only issues are an increase of smoke output and the possibility of needing to change the fuel filter. The smoke goes away once you've filled with decent fuel again

I'm glad you didn't say with a more expensive fuel as it's expensive everywhere

i'm seriously thinking of having a re-map done and as i have only recently bought the car was wondering if once completed is it date tagged as to when it was mapped ?i ask this because when ever you buy a car thats not new you dont know if its been tampered with so for insurance purposes as long as you tell them its not been tampered with to the best of your knowledge
i think you get my drift lol mmmm stella she's naughty !

TT, JE & TC are transparent to the dealers & ins. co's, SW versions will show as that at the time of remap - dunno about the others

A quote I read on a AU chipper was Quote:Manufacturers Tolerances
Land Rover unfortunately leaves large tolerances in the
performance characteristics of its entire fleet to allow for drivers
that are negligent on maintenance, and who are non-enthusiasts.
The Discovery 3 TDV6 is ‘de-tuned’ to be able to run on the
poorest grade of fuel that the car is likely to encounter anywhere
in the world, and also to allow for the small percentage of owners
who put their cars reliability to the test due to their lack of
mechanical understanding. In most cases, our clients are
enthusiasts who place more emphasis on the performance
characteristics of their vehicle, and therefore the Powerchip does
not need to be programmed as conservatively as the stock
software."
So my question is, is this true and why. why have a general tune just to 'cover your ass' approach, is it not possible to have the engine management programmed to the region of sale 'USA', 'Europe', 'Africa', 'Asia', 'Australia' etc? (to account for fuel quality)
also is this tuning as described in AU the same format that Turbochip use, 'fuel, timing etc in a diesel gives it more Torque and thus able to change gears earlier and keep rpm lower (lower rpm=fuel saving)
Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!
