I would get them to buy it back
less a calculation for the mileage put on by you and a % of the repairs/servicing you've done whilst in your keep. I would suggest it would have a material effect on the resale value and chances of selling it on in the future....buying a high miler with known history is a lot different that buying one with a partial history.

A mate of mine bought a T5 in very similar circumstances. The fact that his was clocked was revealed when he went to have it remapped. The kit used (autologic?) found that the odo reading was not the same as the ECU, which still held the true mileage.
Armed with this and the MOT history, he negotiated a refund from the dealer.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Beanie - Yeah I am ok .... thanks ....
Thought I would chat it through before posting....
Intergoogle .... TLO and Greg at Prestige been v helpful over last 24 hours and posted my thanks on here early a.m. ....
Now I have got my head round it ... no wonder she was a wreck ...
They price difference at the time for 50k mileage is approx £2k so we'll see ....
Quite fond of her really even though she lied to me
Been working out if they offer me a swap on a D3 06 SE with 'proper' full service history and 85k mileage ....doubt it though ....
They have one in .... or keep the old girl as effectively if I get 2k (I wish) I bought her for £7.5k ....D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit

I would imagine that taking her back in against another with a known history would work best for you both as £2k represents a fair old amount of the profit in the vehicle when sold to you. They would also then send it to auction rather then try to sell it on again to joe public in order to recoup their losses, would also mean that TSO would not have to step in leaving them open to further scrutiny by Trading Standards

Ah Bobs thanks for the PM fella, and really sorry to read this!
I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction and quickly too fella!
Just one question: Did you get a HPI certificate with it from the garage, or did you do one yourself before you bought it?It's better to burn out, than fade away...

Most disappointing thing is I want a D3 .. love the vehicle ...
SWMBO even laughs when on I am the lap top .... she says your talking to your 'car friends again '
I am v good normally at admin ... checking and looking into things
But also I trust people ..... I just feel the garage 'ocked' up ....
Mikey -
Kept the internet advertising of the car ... cleary states HPI checked...and the mileage quoted at 112k .... so I have proof they advertised the car as I bought it ....
Found out though through 'tinternet' - HPI enquiries can be done either with or without mileage if you buy privately ...
Not sure what the garage did .... I have asked the garage for a copy of the HPI they did ... personally I don't think they did one
Here's hoping I keep a D3 and get some form of compensation either trade in or cash (no fingers crossed icon) D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.

You'll always have the option to keep the car, it's just if you are prepared to at the price or discount offered, if you are offered an alternative, you'll have to go through all the "reliability" checking again
.... And don't for get the time and money you have invested if they offer an alternative car, value adding, especially that grille Altox GSM FBH controller thread

On a D2 the mileage is held in 2 places and if you put a second hand part in with a different mileage it will default to the higher one and write that mileage to the lower part.
Surprised the D3 doesn't have something similar.

Anyway, I'd be concerned about the service schedule not being adhered to. Factor that in with your negotiations.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
